The Society has four subject committees for members interested in Somerset’s Archaeology, Historic Buildings, Local History, and Natural History. The committees are run by member volunteers whose work includes organising speakers and events, publications, and grant giving. 

SANHS Associated Societies are local groups and organisations who are members of the Society, and Mick Aston’s Young Archaeologists (MAYA) is a club set up by Mick Aston for budding archaeologists set up by Mick Aston.
