About the Wyndham Hall

The Wyndham Hall was built for SANHS in 1927 with money donated by William Wyndham. The aim was to provide a lecture hall to help spread knowledge and understanding to the members of SANHS but also to the wider public. Read more about the history of the Wyndham Hall here …

The Wyndham Hall Project

The Wyndham Hall has been open for the last 18 months. During this time, we have had many SANHS events – ranging from the Conference to celebrate 175 years of SANHS as well as specialist lectures, meetings and open days for the public.

The 175 Conference was a great success and brought together many members who had not had the opportunity to meet for many years. The hall was full, and the range of talks were varied, numerous and top quality and the food delicious.

The Wyndham Picture house is run by Eddie Gaines and is an independent cinema group showing films once a month. This year we have received funding from Taunton Town Council for a new projector and sound system, which has made the cinema experience much more enjoyable. To see what is showing this month go to our Events page.

Work continues to decorate and upgrade the building. Recently we have repaired and replaced the gutters, put in new, softer lighting and bought new fittings for the kitchen. The Wyndham Hall team always meet on a Wednesday morning to continue with painting and repairing the building as well as having a social cup of tea. New volunteers are always welcome to join the group, so do call in on a Wednesday morning.
