Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society Archaeology Committee’s role is to promote interest in the rich archaeology of historic Somerset and to inspire further research through working with others to provide training and encourage local project work.

This includes:

Organising walks and lectures culminating in our Annual Archaeology Day in March to which all are welcome;

Providing training in geophysical techniques and pottery identification;

Assisting test-pitting projects;

Encouraging and assisting in publication;

Encouraging work on archaeological collections in museums;

Participating in regional and national initiatives to influence public policy-making.
