SANHS: Geological Walk around Ham Hill – Led by Andy Gordon

There are several disused Ham Hill Stone quarries to visit, including a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Although we will focus on Somerset Geology Group’s speciality, the hilltop also contains the largest Iron Age hill fort in Western Europe and we will discuss how the geology has underpinned the local archaeology, history, industry, agriculture and biodiversity.

Ham Hill Country Park is easily accessible by car.
