Webinar: Chantries and Their Legacy (with particular reference to Axbridge) by John Page

February 20 @ 19:30 - 21:00

This talk will discuss the origins of Chantries, give examples of some of the uses and abuses encountered, and look at the benefits and problems created by their abolition after the Reformation. Axbridge has an extensive archive, much of which was associated with property deeds associated with local chantries. The document above is an early 13th century example.
